Zone 22 - Yinka Babalola
Yinka Babalola is an Accomplished HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) practitioner, with significant experience in upstream Oil & Gas surface operations, Maintenance engineering and Planning. After 23 years with Shell, he has a proven track record in HSE management of contractors, pipeline activities, road transport, and in a variety of technical and non-technical challenges, as well as high performance ratings and an excellent safety record.
Able to execute corporate assignments in challenging environments, he was a key person in Shell Nigeria improving mean time between significant incidents from 43 days to over 1300 days, and in helping the organisation achieve 37million manhours LTI free. He is a Certified Lead auditor, and Competence assessor.
PRIVP Olayinka ("Yinka") Babalola started his Rotary journey as a Rotaractor in 1983. A Rotarian since 1993, Yinka is a member of the Rotary club of Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt District 9141, Nigeria. He served his Club as President during the 2002-2003 Rotary Year during which he won the Rotary International Global Quest Award for highest percentage net membership gain worldwide.
PRID Yinka served his District as District Governor in 2011-2012 and during his year as Governor, the District raised over a $1,000,000 U.S. which contributed to the District (9140 at the time) being one of the top three performing Districts in the world, and was recognized as such at the Rotary International Convention in Bangkok, Thailand in 2012. This led to continued growth in the District which resulted in the District being split into two Districts in July of 2017.
In addition to being the first Director of the newly announced Zone 22 (2019-20), Past RI Director Yinka has served Rotary as Assistant Rotary Coordinator, EndPolio Now Zone Coordinator for English speaking Africa, the Rotary International Reach out To Africa (ROTA) Water and Sanitation Coordinator, member of the Sao Paulo 2015 International Convention Promotion Committee, Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee, Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (English speaking Africa, Zone 20A) and Endowment/Major Gift Adviser.
